As part of her ongoing development within the YAF DN, Maria Spinosa (DC8) recently attended the advanced course “Caracterización químico-física de la superficie de adsorbentes y catalizadores I”, organized by the Spanish Adsorption Society (SEA). Held from June 10–13, 2025 in Jarandilla de la Vera (Cáceres, Spain), the course provided in-depth training on surface chemistry and characterization of adsorbents and catalysts.
Topics covered included active sites, oxidation states, acid-base properties, and surface energetics, with practical sessions on IR, Raman, XPS, synchrotron radiation, and thermal analysis. These techniques are central to Maria’s research on zeolitic materials for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Her participation strengthens the interdisciplinary approach of her work and supports YAF’s mission to train researchers ready to tackle the future of sustainable aviation.
