YAF doctoral candidates Ishtiak Malique (DC2) and Sofia Recchia (DC6) participated in NextGen 2026, hosted by YAF partner CIEMAT on 4–5 June 2026.
During the event, both researchers presented their latest work within the YAF – MSCA Doctoral Network:
- Ishtiak Malique (DC2) presented “Effective bioprocessing of textile waste for simultaneous production of microbial oil and carotenoids by Rhodosporidium toruloides”. His research explores sustainable bioprocessing strategies to valorise textile waste while producing valuable biobased products.
- Sofia Recchia (DC6) presented “Advancing Debaryomyces hansenii for lipid production using salt-rich feedstocks.” Her work focuses on developing innovative microbial processes to produce lipids from challenging, saline waste streams.
