- What is your role in the YAF project? What are you currently working on within the scope of YAF?
My role within the YAF project is the supervision of DC2 at CIEMAT (Ishtiak M. Chowdhury). This IRP aims at producing SAF intermediates from sugar-rich biowastes, directing at maximizing not only sugar recovery and conversion but also at developing more sustainable downstream processing approaches.
- Why do you think the YAF research is important for your career development and how it will impact the society?
The YAF Research Team represents a multidisciplinary and highly motivated group of DCs. It is really a pleasure to contribute to their training while targeting at one of the major EU challenges, which is to increase sustainability in the aviation sector with the aim of being carbon neutral by 2050.
- What or who inspired you to go into academia/research?
Three pillars inspired me to go into research. These are motivation to meet ambitious targets, my father; questioning in details what is under investigation, my mother; and prioritizing the benefit of the society to get your own benefit, my grandfather. They all had no high school studies.
- For you, what is most challenging and/or exciting about your work in YAF?
It is exciting as well as challenging to share appropriately not only my knowledge during the daily activities in the lab but also the enthusiasm of contributing to research by developing and/or providing new approaches that might benefit the society in the future.
- Write an inspiring quote for the DC you are going to supervise in YAF.
Question twice before reporting and be open for the unexpected. Next discovery might be yours!
- Where can we find you after work? Doing what?
I love spending time playing with my child and going out with friends. I also love cooking and get inspired to try new recipes on my own.
