YAF DCs (Tomás Zubak, Maria Spinosa and Marco Vitale) Showcase Progress at IMDEA Energy Workshop

IMDEA Energy hosted the 14th Workshop for Young Researchers last week, providing a platform for emerging scientists to share the latest advances in their Individual Research Projects (IRPs). During the event, YAF DCs Tomás Zubak (DC1), Maria Spinosa (DC8), and Marco Vitale (DC10) presented their recent work, highlighting innovative approaches in sustainable fuels and bioconversion.

Tomás Zubak (DC1) delivered an oral presentation entitled “Bioconversion of saline wastes into microbial oil: salinity and C/N effects on Yarrowia lipolytica performance”, focusing on how salinity and nutrient balance influence microbial oil production.

Maria Spinosa (DC8) also gave an oral presentation, “The power of NiCe catalysts in moving fatty acids toward jet fuels: different pathways with metal-modified n-ZSM-5”, exploring catalytic routes for converting fatty acids into aviation fuels.

Marco Vitale (DC10) presented a poster titled “Toward frameworks for performance evaluation of SAF production: gaps and opportunities in Science for Policy”, addressing key challenges and opportunities in assessing sustainable aviation fuel production from a science-for-policy perspective.
