Workshop on Energy Systems Analysis at IMDEA Energy

From 25–26 February, YAF Doctoral Candidates (DCs) gathered at IMDEA Energy (Móstoles, Madrid) for an intensive two-day workshop dedicated to energy systems analysis.

On the first day, participants attended two lectures delivered by the Systems Analysis Unit of IMDEA Energy, focusing on energy systems and process modelling, as well as Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (E-LCA) of energy systems. These sessions were complemented by two practical case studies addressing process modelling and E-LCA.

The day concluded with a guided visit to IMDEA Energy’s laboratories and pilot plants, offering participants first-hand insight into ongoing research activities.

The second day centred on Life Cycle Costing (LCC) of energy systems, Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA), and Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA). As on the previous day, the theoretical sessions were reinforced through two dedicated case studies, enabling participants to deepen their understanding through practical application.

Overall, the workshop provided a comprehensive overview of advanced methodologies for assessing the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of energy systems.
