- What is your role in the YAF project? What are you currently working on within the scope of YAF?
I’m Doctoral Candidate 4, engineering synthetic yeast communities for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). I aim to improve how these communities grow together and optimise their performance to produce terpenes with desirable aviation fuel properties.
- Why do you think the YAF research is important for your career development and how it will impact the society?
I’m passionate about engineering biology to solve real-world problems. YAF allows me to acquire and build on my skills in synthetic biology and fuel production, while contributing to building a more sustainable future.
- What or who inspired you to go into academia/research?
I’ve always been curious about how nature works. That curiosity grew into a strong interest in understanding and engineering natural systems. Academia gives me the space to explore these systems in depth and apply that knowledge to real-world solutions.
- For you, what is most challenging and/or exciting about your work in YAF?
The most exciting part of YAF is collaborating across disciplines to pioneer sustainable fuels. The challenge of making the process efficient, scalable, and sustainable is exactly what makes the work so interesting and impactful.
- Write a catchy slogan for your IRP.
Grow Together, Fly Further✈️
- Where can we find you after work? Doing what?
Outside the lab I enjoy being in nature, anything sports-related or reading a good book.
